Obama’s Job on America Act

Tonight, President Barack Obama (PBO) insulted the country– you and me.  He insulted us by lying to us all.  No, not a simple poetic license to stretch the truth a bit, which has been his normal modus operandi.   Instead, he lied frequently and thoroughly, and he did it in front of both houses of the congress.

I can’t help but think his yet to be delivered jobs initiative is misnamed.  Instead of his claim it is “America’s Job Act,” I think it more appropriate to call it the “Job on America Act.”   That would certainly conjure a correct image of its impact on the country and our persistent unemployment troubles.  Here’s a rough analysis of the speech from my perspective:

PBO is in full campaign mode and used this speech as an attempt to seize the initiative for Campaign 2012.  For several months he and his liberal cronies have been losing popularity for their ineptness handling the economy.  PBO needed a polling lift and desperately wants to go back on the offensive against conservatives, especially tea party conservatives who stand in his way for a second 4-year term.

Next, PBO is exploiting the terrible employment picture as his excuse to spend more money he doesn’t currently have, essentially as a means to raise taxes on people of wealth — business owners who happen to be the chief employers around the country.  He says he’s paying for the $450B cost of this gargantuan spening program in future “cuts” so it doesn’t hurt now.  What he should have said is that he has been saddling all of our children and grandchildren with that new debt.  Reducing that future obligation isn’t a “cut,” it is instead preventing wasteful spending that he forced on future Americans.  He lies when he calls them cuts.

PBO is hoping, genuinely hoping that Republicans will reject his proposal and give him cause to blame the economic blight of 2012 on them.  It’s a desperate move and it reflects his disrespect for the workplace, employers and workers alike.  No president in modern history has been re-elected when unemployment during the campaign was at or above 7%.  Forecasts are for that rate to be above 8% this time next year.  PBO is aware we are teetering on the brink of another business recession, with unemployment numbers again climbing towards 10% nationally.  His only hope for re-election hinges on him being able to shift blame to Republicans.

PBO lied when he claimed that wealthy Americans want their tax rates elevated.  Nothing prevents wealthy Americans from sending checks in to the federal government today.   Still, none of them do that.  So, why would they need the government force them to give that money up?  Short answer- they don’t and they certainly don’t want their wealth redistributed.

The truth be known, PBO’s speech tonight was mere slight of hand to shift the focus of Americans (and their anger) towards those mean old republicans who would see him ushered out of office in 2012.  Speaker Boehner and his team need to be deliberate, forthright, and resolute in telling the American people that PBO’s plan is a farce and won’t work; just as his previous spending didn’t work to restore economic prosperity.  We have to stop spending now, and to keep saying no to every attempt at more taxation and spending.  Otherwise, PBO’s “job on America” will be irrecoverable.

About James Madison

I was the fourth president of these United States. My wife Dolley and I are greatly disturbed with the erosion of your liberties and the encroachment of the present federal, state, and local governments. I was an original member of the Democratic-Republican Party in this country and I would welcome a return to the conservative values that united Democrats and Republicans in my day. Let's start with putting God back in our lives and our government so He will richly bless our endeavors in Lee County. Let's force our elected officials be more transparent and accountable to the electorate in fiscal and social matters. I look forward to hearing your ideas about these matters and others that are on your hearts and minds. Thank You for participating!

Right on Mr. Madison! I have migrated NORTH for the summer and I watched the speech with a blue collar union crowd with a good bunch of white collar public enployeess (also union members) I think I was the only non Democrat in the place.. I was suprised that they weren’t buying that whole “load of BS” and asking back and forth how were we going to pay for the new jobs if not from taxes. Many commented that they would like to vote him out of office but a moderate Democrat would not run and they hoped the GOP would find someone that “they could hold their nose and vote for” i.e. what we would call a Rino. They were afraid a Tea Party member would go too far and cut into their nice Union jobs and they might actually have to work for their pay. honk?

  2. Thanks Goose. His “Jobs Bill” is a facade. He really wants this thing to be a short term stimulus (number three by my count) that will give him enough of a campaign bump to get through the Nov 2012 election. He really doesn;t give a hoot about jobs. His focus the past 2-1/2 years illustrated that clearly. Once he forced Obamacare down our throats, he had us on the glideslope of wealth re-distribution. He’s now playing the class warfare card to re-direct the anger of the masses towards those who have acumulated wealth. Those awful millionaires and billionaires! How dare they keep all that money to themselvees!
