Dear Billy…(Liggett, that is)

Dear Billy,

I’ve taken the afternoon off from trying to save the country from the horrid direction the Democrats are attempting to take this great country.  I didn’t want to but you know, sir, a man’s got to do what a man has to do…get refreshed for the battle, that is coming.  So while enjoying a mug or two (what will remain nameless), I wandered upon the “Rant” and heard you were going to reveal who we are.  I was disappointed that the goods were not spilled.  But oh well.  So I’ll save you the time…

Dear Billy …You need look no further.  We are the ones who had the fantastic idea of the American Experiment.  Actually, we carried it out.  The idea was inspired by a higher power and faith we have in Him.

56 of us (many, many more)  lost our lives, our families, our fortunes to protect our sacred honor and yours by signing our name to the US Constitution and Declaration of Independence.   We all knew what was at stake.  We all knew that freedom came with a price.  Freedom isn’t free.  Someone’s blood is always spilled.  We can start with Jesus Christ.  He came to “free” us and died for you and me.  He set the standard.

Many more died in the war that was fought to free us from a tyrannical dictator, King George.  Many died to free slaves.  Many died in the World Wars, Korean War, Vietnam War, Gulf War, and so on.  I think you get my point.

Dear Billy …. when you want to know who we are…go look in the mirror.  We are you.  We are what America stands for….life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.  Those rights were given to us by no man, but by a Creator.  And they were given freely.  Not one of us did anything to deserve them.  But we have them…

We love our families as much as you love yours.  And we will do anything for them, as you would.  Like those who have gone before us in the name of freedom, we will give our lives, if necessary, to protect the America we grew up in so our children and generations to come can enjoy it.  But we’re not selfish.  We’ll give our lives for all who are here legally and all who aspire to come to this country legally in search of the best life this world has to offer.

And Billy…you, no matter what somebody tells you, cannot find this freedom anywhere else in the world.  Only in America…Enjoy it while you can.

  1. Patrick;

    First, Welcome to the Blog! We genuinely appreciate your inputs here and we look forward to your future posts and comments.

    I believe many in the local community echo your sentiments. The mood of the country is precisely as you have expressed in your observations above. I sensed the same sentiments tonight during the Herald forum at the Civic Center. I think you will be re-assured in your future posts after watching all of the candidates. You might even find the forum to be entertaining…

    • Patrick, Nice first effort!
      However I find this part fairly confusing: “56 of us (many, many more) lost our lives, our families, our fortunes to protect our sacred honor and yours by signing our name to the US Constitution and Declaration of Independence.” True there were 56 who signed the The Declaration of Independence. I have not been able to determine just how many actually lost their life or family or fortune because they did sign, they did all assume the risk however.
      There were 55 delegates to the Constitution Convention, Rhode Island didn’t send any delegates, You, Patrick Henry were absent because you “smelt a rat in Philadelphia, tending toward the monarchy”. Only 39 people signed the US Constitution. According to my research only 6 people signed both the Declaration and the Constitution.
      If you are going to use the name, and quote history you should know the history.

    I was going to, I swear. But Gordon fell into the studio well and died.

  3. Patrick Henry says:

    Nice George. I was talking collectively about the founding fathers. Your comments do not change the fact that we, who post on this blog, are just like Billy. We want the best for our children and grandchildren. We want them to live in freedom like we have and have fought for.

    Look in the mirror, George. Who are you – REALLY? One who wants to uplift America or tear down the messenger? There’s a distinct difference.
